The JOULE BOX measures the welding arc energy and displays it in Joules per second. The Joule box is an easy to operate, portable self contained device designed for the welding industry. As required by ASME Code Section IV QW-409.1(c) . The JOULE BOX was designed to exceed these requirements and give the QA personnel the tools for verification.

What is the JOULE BOX ?

The JOULE BOX is a portable device that was designed for the welding industry to measure the energy in JOULES that is imparted to the substrate during the welding process. As required by ASME Code Section IV QW-409.1(c) . The JOULE BOX was designed to exceed these requirements and give the QA personnel the tools for verification.

The original JOULE BOX is an analog device that was very easy to use.

The operator simply attached the welders electrode holder to the spud on the back of the JOULE BOX.

Attached the Orange ground lead to the welding ground. This will display voltage.
If no voltage is displayed shift the Electrode Polarity switch to the other position.

By having the welder use the JOULE BOX installed electrode holder the welding amperage will be displayed.

Sample set up.

JOULE BOX 2 is a Battery powered, Portable, Self contained, sophisticated computer based device that samples at greater than 10,000 samples per second. That provides the operator with a digital read out of Instantaneous Volts, Instantaneous Amperage and Instantaneous Joules per Second.

JOULE BOX 2 is very easy to use, it comprises of 3 sensors leads.
    1. Amperage clamp on probe 500A and 1200A 20ft lead
    2. Heavy duty ground clamp 20ft lead
    3. Large Voltage Alligator clip 20ft lead

EZ Check
EZ Check is a tool that provides for easier connection to
EZ check will connect "inline" into electrode cables that use the most common twist type connectors providing a convenient positive sample point for the electrode voltage.
Other connection configurations are available upon request

Brief operation instructions of JOULE BOX 2

1.Clamp Amperage probe around the Ground cable.
2. Attach ground clamp to common ground.
3. Attach voltage lead to Electrode cable using EZ Check or Direct via supplied oversize alligator type clip.
4. Turn on JOULE BOX 2, At this point the system will conduct a self check and calibration, when complete the LCD will display
"Ready to Sample"
5. Press Sample switch.
6. Record results
7. Press Sample/Reset switch to obtain another 1 second sample.
